Resume your taper's planned easy runs on your first full day at the destination. But delay any remaining quality or pace-check session until at least 48 hours after arrival. That window lets initial travel fatigue clear before you ask your legs to do anything specific.

If you're crossing 3 or more time zones, I'd like you to start adjusting before you even leave home. Shift your bedtime and wake time by 1 hour per day toward the destination time zone in the 2-3 days before departure — so you arrive already partway adjusted.
Once you land, seek bright light at the destination's local morning and avoid it in the local evening for the first 2-3 days. This accelerates circadian adjustment more than most runners expect. Eat your meals on the destination's schedule from the day of arrival, not your origin schedule.

The first 48-72 hours at altitude bring the sharpest performance drop — before partial adaptation begins. Keep your taper runs easy and shorter than planned during this window. Don't try to hit normal paces. Your body simply isn't ready for that comparison yet.

The athlete who kept the same shakeout to 10 minutes of easy running felt fresh. The difference was sensible judgement, nothing else.

If your arrival timing fell short of the ideal window above, I'd recommend you default to a finish-focused or conservative pace-banded goal rather than your original number.
