What Is The Best Heart Rate To Run With?

by Leonard Leslie Lock
(Plymouth, Devon)

What is the best heart rate to run with?

Answer by Dominique:

Leslie,
Thanks for your question. It is an impossible one to answer though. Let me give you a few starting points as to what to do and learn when considering running with a heart rate monitor:

  • Get familair with a few heart rate monitor basics

  • Find out what your maximum heart rate is.

  • Find out what your rest heart rate is.

  • Learn more about the Zoladz method and the Karvonen method of heart rate monitor training are. By the way, for the Zoladz method you only really need your maximum heart rate. For the Karvonen method you need both maximum heart rate and rest heart rate.

  • This should tell you all you need to know. The running training section should be able to help you further with any other running training questions you should have.
