Shin Splints

by Melanie
(USA)

I just want to let you know that I really enjoy your website...I find it very informative !
As I am training to join the Forces, I use one of the running programs...
I was wondering about shin splints, I don't get them that often, but I can't really stop running because I need to be able to run 2.2km in 14 min or less...

Do you have any suggestion to avoid or get rid of them as soon as possible !

Thanks a lot for everything.
Sincerely,
Melanie

Answer by Dominique:

Hi Melanie,

Thanks for your comments.
Look at my page about running stretches and my page about shin splints.
They should cover all you need to know.

If you do have shin splints, then be really careful. I understand that it is not convenient to stop running, but if you have to, you have to. There are other ways to get fitter (e.g. cycling, water running, etc.).

Keep up the good spirit and hope you make it to your goal.

Cheers,
Dominique
