Running Injuries Due To My Shoes?

by Michele
(Mt Pleasant, PA)

I got new running shoes and after about the 3rd day of running in them I started to develope some aches and pains. During my run today my right knee started to hurt and then I got a cramp in my right calf that hasn't left yet.

Answer by Dominique:
Hi Michele,
Thx for your question. Well, you did not exactly ask a question, but I assume you want to know whether your shoes could be causing these pains?

Not knowing your foot type and your running shoes I really don't know whether you have bought the right shoes for your feet or not. It definitely seems a bit suspect that you are suddenly developing these issues.

I'd advise you to go to a specialist running shoe shop where they will look at your foot type and can then tell you whether you have been sold the right shoes. Also see my running shoes page for more information.

Regarding the leg cramps and the knee pain: check out the running injuries section which contains a few articles about these types of injuries.

Best of luck with finding the cause of your sudden running injuries.

Cheers,
Dominique
