Positioning of My Run -- Running Technique

by Heather
(Lafayette, LA )

I am afraid I am running in the wrong position and may hurt myself or not be getting the full effect of my run?

Answer by Dominique:

Hi there,
Thanks for your question about your running technique.

You are right, if you run with incorrect posture or your feet land incorrectly you do run the risk of running injuries.

I'd be less worried about not getting the full effect of your run. You'd still be covering the same distance, bad technique or not. Not running with the proper technique actually takes more effort.

Regarding your posture: try to make sure you run with a straight back and neck. When you are worried about the way you put your feet down, check out my running shoes-section for an explanation about foot types and types of shoes you need.
