What You Should Know about the New York Marathon
The New York Marathon began in 1970 and it has grown to be one of the three biggest marathons in the USA. Along with the Boston Marathon and the Chicago Marathon, there are world class runners from all over the world competing to win in these races.
Over the years the New York Marathon has grown to one of the largest races in the world.
Millions of people watch the marathon every year and there has been a record number of participants in the race since its inception.

For some people, running a marathon is a personal achievement that gives them a sense of accomplishment. When a runner completes the New York Marathon it is often after having trained for a full year before they enter. Runners who are able to complete a twenty six mile run are a trained group of athletes who work very hard to build the stamina to finish the race.
