New Balance running shoes are crafted by New Balance Athletic Shoe, Inc., a United States based manufacturer.

New Balance has been a front runner in the shoe industry since its founding in 1906.

New Balance running shoes are known for being available in a much wider range of widths and sizes than most competing brands.

New Balance is also well known for being one of very few running shoe brands that still maintains a presence in the United States and the United Kingdom, while other competing brands have moved their operations overseas.

New Balance mainly marketed arch supports until the New Balance Trackster was released in 1961, with the company shifting its focus from arch supports to running shoes specifically.

Rather than focusing on a single shoe by giving each new shoe a trademark name, New Balance gives each new shoe a product number. The product numbers increase with each new addition of the shoe, but aside from that not much is known about how each shoe is numbered.
