When you are running, what should be your hand position?
Answer by Dominique:
Hi Manjunath, Thanks for your running question.
It may seem trivial to some, but it is a pretty good question as the right way to run, including the right way you hold your arms and hands does have its influence on how efficient you use your energy.
When you are running you are probably constantly moving your arms/hands with the running rhythm. That's good. It does make a difference though how you move them, i.e. in front of your body (almost crossing them as you run) or straight ahead (in the direction you are running).
Straight ahead is the better way, it is more efficient as it basically focuses all your movement forward.
Further part of good running technique is to have a straight back and neck. So no slumping while you are running.

If you do that, your running technique should be pretty good. Hope I explained the part about the arms clearly enough, it is hard to put body movements into writing!
