My favourite running training book is Daniels' Running Formula from Jack Daniels. Prior to using Daniels' Running Program I had picked up some different running programs from the internet. Some of them good, some of them not so good.
I had a lot of difficulty with understanding why I was supposed to do a particular workout. Other than increasing mileage, these running programs did not really make me feel like I was getting the maximum out of my running.
On this website I see Dominique referring to this book quite often when he is answering questions so I decided to pick up a copy as well from Amazon. The book has helped me understand much better why I am doing what I am doing.
I now know a lot more about tempo pace, interval pace, repetitions and what the purpose of them is. And the general templates in the back of the book give you completely flexible running programs for any distance up to a marathon, which is so good, it's just ridiculous!
With help of this book I have set a 8 minute personal record on the half marathon.
So, ten out of ten for Jack Daniels. I love this book and I have learned a lot from it.
