Brooks Sports, Inc. is a privately held company that manufactures high performance apparel and shoes specifically for runners, and was founded in 1914 by a man named Morris Goldenberg.
In 1917, Brooks Sports manufactured primary bathing shoes, then began producing cleats for baseball in 1920 and then cleats for football in the 1930s.
Brooks' athletic footwear has been endorsed by a number of well known athletes, including the entire Pittsburgh Pirates team in 1979, and then Dan Marino in 1984.
Brooks Sports, Inc. is headquartered in Bothell in Washington in the northwest United States, making it one of very few large scale athletic apparel and shoe departments that still operate entirely out of the United States rather than overseas.
