Best Running Tips Newsletter, Issue #005 -- Make this a year to rememberJanuary 27, 2007 |
|||
First of all, although a bit late, best wishes for 2007. May all of your (running) dreams come true this year. I did a bit of daydreaming myself last weekend. I took my agenda and a running calendar and planned my running races for the upcoming year. Structuring my year I saw nothing but PB's coming my way... :) It's good to do this planning well in advance, so that you can structure your running training according to racing plans. And you can engage your partner and family early in your plans, so that you are sure that you block off certain dates in the family calendar. ============================================= RUNNING TIP OF THE MONTH : Build Your Base The way to prepare for your all important running race this spring or summer is to build a good aerobic base. Your aerobic base is the foundation, your stamina, which keeps you going for miles and miles. Coming closer to your running race, you will do some speedier workouts which will make you a quicker runner. But it is important to recognise that being a quick runner without a solid foundation is not going to get you far. After all, without a solid base you will only be quick for a short amount of time ! So, build that base now. How ? Slow and easy running. As much as possible. No speedy stuff. Do it and make this a running year to remember ! Also see a newly added page to my site : Base Running Drills ========================================== Are you looking to lose weight this year? Luckily he was well prepared and made it to the finish line despite this year's extra harsh circumstances. In April he will run his second half marathon. Hopefully under normal circumstances he will reach that 1:35 finish time which his training shows he is capable of. Running thought for this year : By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.
